WEB PICTURE QUALITY - knowledge over style over content
FORMATS bitmap, gif and jpeg. picture formats are commonly used.
I use jpeg format for converting most big pictures, and reduce
the dots per inch (dpi) to 70 or below, for a web page.
To keep jpeg file sizes under 50k, I use 30 to 60 on the
'compression' scale for jpegs ( a scale runs from 2 as high
quality, to 255 for low quality. )
Because many users employ a 256 colour palette, gif's are still
much in use, but they only handle up to 256 colours. I use gifs
for icons and small pics.
I use ...Read the rest of this entry »
Endangered Kids - Is Computing safe for Kids?
Kids computing is like "electronically sugar-coated 'learning'
that may spoil children's appetite for the main course."
Encouraging children to "learn" by flitting about in a colorful
multimedia world is a recipe for a disorganized and
undisciplined mind. Kids should be encouraged to blossom and
flower in a free atmosphere. Their development should be in
their own capacities. Barry Sanders, Professor at Pitzer
college, US says "good readers grow out of good recites and good
speakers." Then, as ...Read the rest of this entry »
Webmaster-Reviewer
Article: Audixp with side-window review . By: zoneview My first
computer case I used to have was the blank ATX case with 3
exposed bays and 3 hidden bays. In fact, I was really pleased
with what I had at that time. Actually, I was really proud of
what I had. But, when i went to computer fair located in Pomona,
Ca , my mind completely changed . A beautiful modified case with
see-through window was caught into my attention. It was a
hand-made case. The cost for that amazing case was $300. I ...Read the rest of this entry »
What Kind of Email are You?
Trouble is the occasional threatening email. Heart aches are
emails that attack. They throw out accusations and condemnation
(often using fowl language), leaving your spirit in disarray.
Cruel emails are hoaxes that call upon fear or pull at your
heart strings. Rude emails suppose you to appreciate suggestive
pictures or language. Difficult emails are those that question
your every word, thought, or motive. Shocking emails are ones
wherein otherwise intelligent people send out chain ...Read the rest of this entry »

Data Backup For Beginners
It's 10pm. Do you know where your data is?
Data. Small bits of information clustered together to make Word
files, documents, pictures, MP3s, HTML etc. We work on our
computers every single day never sparing a thought for all those
millions of chunks of data spread all over our hard disks. The
data is there and it does it's job.
Until of course the data is not there anymore.
72 hours ago I suffered from massive data loss. There were no
hackers involved. No power surges or lightning strikes. ...Read the rest of this entry »
How to Effectively Recover Data from Orphaned OST Files
If you are on a network that uses Microsoft Exchange server, one of the fastest and most efficient ways of working with the data contained in the folders of your Exchange mailbox is by using Outlook offline folders or OST files. You can configure Outlook to work in an offline mode - in this mode local copies of the folders are stored as OST files on your computer. To begin with, the OST files are merely mirror images of the data stored in the folders but when you are not connected to the ...
